Final Critique

This spring online course that I have taken really means a lot to me. It introduced me to the photography world, changed me from someone who knows nothing about photography to someone who finally made the first step into photography. I've always admired those people who shoot photos, they all have their own style, expressing whatever they want, it was just so fantastic to me. Learning photography allows me to document my life, express myself in a different art form. Paying more attention to the details and beauties of daily life, and capture it.
I'm a person loves to document my life, I love the feelings that photos bring me. Every time I review my photos, it always brings back the memory of that time. Through those photos, I can remember what place was I in, what happened, what mood was I in at that time... Anyways, I'm still a beginner who is still standing on the starting line and didn't even own a camera myself. But I will keep shooting no matter is with my phone or anything else. I'm super cheap anyways. So now here the few photos that I like the best.
This is a portrait. That was the first time I tried to use double exposure. It is quite an interesting result. But, I think that the lighting is not very appropriate. It should be darker and show more details. The entire picture is too bright that people can't see a thing.

I simply like it because of the motion that was shown in this picture, and the reflection of lights on the smooth surface of the bus. However, there is no technic in this picture.
I like this one because I like the pattern of it. These same patterns were arranged together. There are lines formed by these boxes, color contrast.
There are lines in this picture. Reflection of the water gave me the feeling of summer, water fight, the sound made by cicadas, watermelon.
I've put this picture in a lot of my blogs because I think it can be categorized as different types of photography. Like Night photography, street photography, candid photography... However, no actual technic was been used. But I really like the guy who covered his face, he made this entire picture become interesting
.

Open Photo Project

A series of photos that I shoot in my one day Macau trip. Instead of the famous views, I decided to discover the streets and alleys.
I categorized them as street photography

my day's starting spot,

a Cultural alley

A pigeon wondering on the street
passing São Paulo
tourists are all over the street

an intersection

it is a store that sells crystal declarations

here used to be CocaCola museum
I'm climbing up the street to find Biblioteca Sir Robert Ho Tung,
a library I found on the map
It was around 7 or 8 pm, so the whole world is in blue

walking back from the library to the square

waiting for the green light

Merry Christmas!

back home

Photo Essay

A trip back to hometown
In 2019 summer, I went back to my mother's hometown together with my mother, aunt, and cousin, to visit my grandparents.
My grandparents have lived their whole life in this house, this house is like their root. I will always remember the good days we spend here.
The sunshine pass through the kitchen's upper window

Grandma has made me this chicken soup noodles with the chicken she feed in her yard

The kitchen is a little house that is separated from the living room, bedrooms, and bathrooms. The smoke made by burning woods floated out when I look out from the kitchen door

It was Sooo delicious!

After lunch, me and my cousins hanging out in the woods behind my grandparents' houses

My cousin found a cicada pupa on the tree

We decided to pick some peaches from the abandoned peach tree

It was a big sunny day

Our results, we decided to let each family take one bag
I decided to peel a peach for myself, I had almost 15 peaches that day!

Our hometown was famously known as the lotus here, we went to this huge lotus park the very next day

We are on a tour boat

It was spectacular
and hot

We have spent the whole afternoon in the park

Digital Darkroom

Cropping into the square format
add a black and white filter, burning to add construction
Cropping, black and white filter, burning. Gave contrast and focus.

A little cropping. Just thought it's cool. I erased all the other color but yellow(the cheese)
Instagram edit: filter, Ludwig
contrast:60
saturation:24
lights and shadow: 35

All the changes I made or filters I add is to make animal's feather looks more alive, and have the texture.
