Iconic Photographer-Photo Project

As a beginner, I bearly have any technical knowledge about cameras, the art of how should the photo be taken, or the deep-down philosophy things about pictures. The only guideline for me is I like these pictures or not.
Sure I like Irving Penn's photos, they are beautiful, but sometimes the lack of knowledge of me just makes me feel like:
"I can take these pictures too!"
But on the other hand, there must be something else that I don't have in his pictures because it's clear that not everyone can be such a famous photographer like that by just taking some pictures of fruits or naked people!
I love all the iconic photographers are cool, all of them have their own good stuff in their works. But  I'll like to choose Garry Winogrand as my favorite, because I feel more relaxed when I'm appreciating his pictures. ( or maybe not since I don't have any bits of knowledge of photo appreciation) I can feel a sort of humor in his pictures.

It's almost like a bad culture in China- less costing clothes were often printed with wrong spelling English words. Since it is efficient and there are no needs for work of design.
